Barbara Matthews

Barbara is an active volunteer in her community. She is the lead VolunTEEN Nation Ambassador Coordinator. She is an active leader in many campus organizations and enjoys studying science in school. She volunteers with science programs and prepares simple experiments for elementary school students throughout the year. Barbara is always excited about helping VolunTEEN Nation with its STEM service programs in urban and rural communities.

Tara Harmon

Tara Harmon is an 11-year-old from Zionsville, Indiana. She is currently a 5th grader. Tara loves to help out in her community as much as possible. She understands that not everybody is as fortunate as her, and that she needs to help those people. Tara enjoys swimming, crafting, and baking. She is excited to find many other opportunities helping in her community.

Megan Foo

Megan is a high school senior from Hong Kong who is passionate about sustainable giving and nonprofit service. As the Global Outreach Director for VolunTEEN Nation, she hopes to promote sensitivity to global development and justice issues. A fervent advocate of women’s education, Megan is the founder of the Hong Kong chapter of Women LEAD, a nonprofit organization that focuses on empowering adolescent girls in Nepal to be leaders. Having been involved with philanthropic causes including raising funds for family violence intervention programs and conducting research on women's entrepreneurial development in Guatemala, Megan is also the Chief Content Officer of Givology, an online giving marketplace that leverages dollar donations to fund grassroots education projects in developing communities. When not volunteering, Megan enjoys running cross country, traveling, and reading about issues in STEM. Her favorite subjects are physics, mathematics and chemistry.

Sharlena Luyen

Entering into her senior year at Troy High School, Sharlena is the Social Media Coordinator for VolunTEEN Nation. She ventures her studies towards learning and working with philanthropy, the community, and social entrepreneurship. To extend the wealth of leadership, networking, and professional skills to youth in local communities, Sharlena leads workshops and organizes events through the non-profit Youth Leadership America. Beyond academics, she voices her opinion of current events and controversial topics through a student-run magazine. Aspiring to discover something greater than herself, Sharlena yearns to inspire others to pursue their passion and reach their full potential. 

Sophie Bernstein

Sophie Bernstein is a rising ninth grade student in St. Louis, MO. Sophie focuses her service efforts on environmental issues and youth with special needs. Her eagerness to help our neighbors have access to recreational sports activities was the spark to create Aces for All. She is an active participant in all volunTEENnation's sports clinics and conservation events. Sophie has received grants from Katie's Krops and Youth Service America to plant vegetable gardens to grow and deliver fresh produce to local food banks to help feed the hungry in the St. Louis community.
